The Gates of Oblivion

From the void you were born
In death to The Nothing you shall return
From the void you were born
In death to The Nothing you shall return
From the void you were born
In death to The Nothing you shall return
From the void you were born
In death to The Nothing you shall return

Standing before the gates of oblivion

This daunting archway beseeches me
To pass through and into the unknown beyond it
For I know not what lies in wait for me
As morbid curiosity drives me

Onward
To reaches beyond fathom
Evermore
To a land foreign and obscured
As I face
An impossible ultimatum
I make haste
And pass through the gates of oblivion

A pressure weighs down on me
A gut-wrenching feeling overtakes me
The atmosphere is unrelenting
Pushing me down onto the ground
"Do my eyes deceive me?"
I witness the gate expanding
Like an endless hallway before me
Its archway riddled with runes

Depictions of an untold epoch
Transcribed over eons unknown
All of these images and writings
Describing what the voices bestowed
As I crawl forward
The pressure ever building
These carvings illustrate
All manner of life come and gone

I, fighting back, force myself off the ground
Now I see it, an end to this tunnel
Vocalizing from this pain, these forces pressing on me
I muster up my strength and push forward unrelenting
Twisting and contorting, this gate wishes for me not to pass
The walls surrounding
Now filled with malicious inscription

I feel it
As I approach the end of the tunnel
It reverts back into the original archway
But what's this I feel forming behind me?
For it is nothing I can see

A presence
Of malice, of hate, of longing
Emerging
A flash of light and a thunderous clap

Descending behind me through the archway
An essence, a product of my passage
As I seek the answers to my arrival
I must proceed if I intend for survival
