Dryrot

Rusted bolt frozen gears
Gaskets cracked pins sheared

I woke the ground with wandering feet
A presence it's forgotten in its sleep
The last night wind carried my dreams
In which a distant city called to me

It beckoned me leave and begged me stay
I'm not sure that i knew i know the way
A machine seems like the key
Because I cannot trust my hands and feet

The red sun sets to mark a day
Of no more progress come my way
My journey is further delayed

Rusted bolt frozen gears
Gaskets cracked pins sheared
Rivets popped belts torn
Welds cracked treads worn
Wires frayed pressure gone
Surface warped timing wrong
Paint chipped shattered glass
Seats ripped out of gas

The red sun sets to mark a day
Of no more progress come my way

Breathe, breathe my new machine
Your blood of oil and gasoline
Provide delivery for all the times I have failed to reach
The work ahead of me is great
And I need the relief
Lest this ground become my grave due to misplaced belief

Rusted bolt frozen gears
Gaskets cracked pins sheared
Rivets popped belts torn
Welds cracked treads worn
Wires frayed pressure gone
Surface warped timing wrong
Paint chipped shattered glass
Seats ripped out of gas
