Forever and Ever

I had another vision
A door was open in heaven
Then I heard an angel say
John, come up here to heaven
And I'll show you what must happen
On that final day

The spirit took control of me
There in heaven stood a throne
God the Father ruled from it
This was His home
And His face gleamed like such precious stones
As jasper and beryl
From all around his throne
Stood a rainbow the colour of emerald

In a circle round the throne
Were twenty-four other thrones
This is where the elders sat
They were dressed in long white robes
On each head was a golden crown
And they praised God for His victory
And then sat down

From God's throne came flashes of lightning
Rumblings and peals of thunder
And crystals seemed before his throne
Extending far and yonder
And seven lighted torches burned
Within the glassy sea
These are the seven spirits of God
I know because He showed me

Surrounding God's throne
On each of its sides
Were four holy creatures
With heavenly eyes
The first looked like a lion
The second looked like a bull
The third looked like an eagle in flight
And the fourth was a manly sight

Each of these holy creatures
Had six wings and several eyes
These eyes covered them from outside and within
Day and night these beings would sing

And the elders would fall down on their face
Before the one who sits on the throne
Together with the beings they would sing
And this is what they'd say

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
Who was, who is, and who is to come
Our Lord and God, You are worthy to receive
Glory, honour and power
For You have created all living things
And by Your will they were given life

I saw the scroll in the right hand
The one who sits on the throne
It was covered with writing on both sides
Seven seals around the scroll
And then a mighty angel
Denounced in a loud voice
Now who is worthy to break the seals?
Now who has choice?
But there was no one in heaven
On earth or in the world
Who was able to set the seals free
Not even me
And then the elders said unto me
It's only Jesus that has won the victory
It's only he who has authority
To take the judgment scroll

Then I saw the Lamb before me
Oystered by His father's side
Symbolically He had seven horns and eyes
He did hear as if He died
And He reached down and took up the scroll
From His father's hand
As He did so He began to glow
For judgment was upon the land

Now all of the living creatures
And the elders too
Fell down before the Lamb of God
With much ado
Each had a harp and a golden bowl
All filled with incense
These are the prayers of godly souls
Sweet fragrance

Jesus you are worthy
To take the scroll
And break open its seals
For You were killed
And by Your death You bought for God
People from all tribes, nations and realms
For You have made them the kingdom
Of priests to serve our God
And they shall rule over all the earth

And to Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
Bring praise and honour
Glory and power
Forever and ever, Amen
