Inheritance

"But even from her voice note you can see how much,
Like, your circle love you..."
"Yeh."
"And that they like to see you win,
They're so happy that you are winning..."
"See the thing is, there were definitely times
Where it didn't feel like that..."
"Why?"
"Because I felt like I didn't deserve it..."
"Why would you think you didn't deserve it?."
"I felt like, no – I say that because –
Just everything that had happened in and around that period of time."
"You were alone..."
"Yeh – that's what it felt like."
"But they never made you think you were alone -
You just got into your own head and
Thought you were alone, isn't it?..."
"Yeh I guess so..."
"It's understandable..."
"I guess I guess that's why I needed to hear..."
"Her message..."
"Yeh..."
"Because it was just a remainder that –
That oh actually you know what –
There are people who want to see me win –
And God hasn't forgotten..."
"It's very encouraging isn't it..."
"(sigh) mate that came at the right time –
so I thought to myself -
You know what, as I'm hearing this
And I know how powerful words are –
Let me do the same thing and put something
Together so that my baby girl can have something
That she can to hold on to say ok cool – I needed to hear this!"

To a child of Zion, the first in my lineage
The world is not as scary as it seems
So, look at the stiches and the scars
Every Mark, Luke, John - Matthew to revelation
That's New Testament grace
With Old Testament faith
The foundation, never let the word go
You can work slow, just work smart
Then work hard, don't break hearts
Unlike your father in that regard, don't you live in the past
You don't have to put your hand in fire to know that it burns
Let me show you my scars, so you can laugh last
Remember I is at the centre of pride
And forgiveness is what keeps you alive
E.g that wooden T
That looked at me and said,
'Oh, I see you are empty.'
Now spelling out the love that I give to you
What's a house with a home? Well, that's destitute...
So in wisdom, I wanna bring out the best in you
Keep the gospel at the centre of your living
Never shy away from your great ambitions
Sit and listen
To your mother, 'cause she raised you in grace
Keeping a smile on your beautiful face,
What more can I say?
So I say it for the world see
The older me hates the lazy me
Situation is very different believe
In the peace that we did achieve
And the beauty that I see deep
In those beautiful brown eyes
Now I think it's about time
That I write with the right mind
And give you something you can take away
Deliver truths you can checkout
As you checkout in a safe space...
The pain of yesterday can vacate
If God took me home time tomorrow
Then I'm leaving here with some great faith
As a woman you're carrying greatness
You carry life as you're carrying favour
Every small win for you, to me is major
But the love He has for you, no love is greater

I believe what you have for me
And aint not no doubt in mind, that I will be just fine
And if I hold dear to the vision in me
I'll be, I'll be
I'll be getting my inheritance

I'll be getting my inheritance
I'll be
I'll be getting my inheritance
Oohh
My inheritance
I'll be... my inheritance

Almost, every self-help book, how-to list and even our bible
Says that the best way to navigate adulthood is
Through the eyes of a child
There's so much wisdom in wonder
Humility in abundance
Open doors on your behalf
When a child can't reach, their parents play their part
So, how much more a father whose age never changes
Though we grow - we're only ever His precious cargo
I can't go a day without His waking and taking me through it
And even when they're bad trust that and
Know that me and daddy got through it
Even when he's not here in the physical – just a thought
What would Jesus do fills the gaps in the walls
And if Jesus is the way, he's the door to a path
So when Daddy's not around it's still my father that I ask!
