She's Weird

If you asked a fish to climb a tree, would you expect it to succeed
Would you ask a zebra to change their stripes and make them choose between black or white
Would you ask a lion to silence their roar or suggest that a bird didn't sing anymore

Well I attempted to climb but I fell to the floor
I washed out my stripes and I muted my roar
I hid my colours, I locked them up in a drawer
But I can't hide my song from the world anymore

Can I play the keyboard
I want a drum
Can I have a guitar
Miss, can I play the flute
I want to play the ukulele
Violin Miss

If the world won't let you play along
You have to learn how to sing your own song
Never let the normal kids ruin your fun
We've got to dance to the beat of our own drum

23 years in education, confusing and losing the friends I'd been making
My music I can't read or play, but I can write, I can sing, I still scraped my MA
I might not be the most academic cookie in the tin
But I'm by far the brightest crayon of that box I've been put in
So if you judge me by my school grades, you mustn't be that smart
Cos what I lack in knowledge I sure make up with my giant heart
And what I lack in social skills I make up with performing arts
And I'm alright at Mario Kart

If the world won't let you play along
You have to learn how to sing your own song
Never let the normal kids ruin your fun
We've got to dance to the beat of our own drum

So move over Jenny, there's a weird kid on the block
Just a starseed on a unicorn, she's never gonna stop
She is searching for some answers but don't know which ones to ask
She's here, she's queer, she's no idea, she's wearing a mask

You can usually find her rocking in the corner, unaware of her awesome artistic disorder
You can usually find her ticking in the corner, unaware of her awesome artistic disorder
You can usually find her rocking in the corner, unaware of her awesome artistic disorder
She's here she's queer she's really weird

Dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD
Depression and of course Anxiety
I've got hoarding disorder and PTSD
Borderline aka EUPD
WTFs happening to me
Why can't I be like my uni friends
They're all racking up credits in the West End
Whilst I'm busy racking up suicide attempts, turns out I'm a different statistic
I just found out I'm autistic
So pass me the music
I said pass me the

If the world won't let you play along, you have to learn how to sing your own song
Never let the normal kids ruin your fun. We've got to dance to the beat of our own drum

If the world won't let you play along, you have to learn how to sing your own song
Never let the normal kids ruin your fun. We've got to dance to the beat of our own drum

If the world won't let you play along, you have to learn how to sing your own song
Never let the normal kids ruin your fun. We've got to dance to the beat of our own drum

If the world won't let you play along, you have to learn how to sing your own song
You've got to dance to the beat of your own drum

She's just a bit unusual
Yeah, that's just her style
She's really weird
Yeah, she's a bit weird, isn't she
Why don't you want to play with her
She's just a bit different from the other kids

Ellerose, you're weird
Oh, thanks guys. That's the best compliment I've had all day
