Farm Labor

He rises early to beat the tropical sun
Truck will be by soon to haul him to the farms they run
Works out in the field where the regulations are few
And the regulators are on the payroll too
Longs for the day Jesus will come back
He clings to that hope while he's working with his back
He doesn't know the answers to the trouble we're in
He just prays he can see his familia again
Sweat drips from his face and falls on his dusty boots
He's got newspaper in the end because they fit pretty loose
He took them off an amigo before they buried him away
Cause he ain't buying new boots on the little he gets paid
Longs for the day Jesus will come back
He clings to that hope while he's working with his back
He doesn't know the answers to the trouble we're in
He just prays he can see his familia again
Crop duster flies low casting shade upon the ground
He stops to feel the breeze while the poison spreads around
He doesn't worry about cancer he's living day to day
He doesn't know when he'll eat or where tonight he'll lay
Longs for the day Jesus will come back
He clings to that hope while he's working with his back
He doesn't know the answers to the trouble we're in
He just prays he can see his familia again
Sunshine reflects in the pearl buttons down his shirt
He gets light headed when he bends to work the dirt
Wipes his brow and looks around as he kneels
He knows all too well he'll die in these fields
Longs for the day Jesus will come back
He clings to that hope while he's working with his back
He doesn't know the answers to the trouble we're in
He just prays he can see his familia again
