Creative Morality

There's a strangeness
In moving on
Leaving behind
The place we called our own
Seeing an empty room
With no trace of you
No messages, instructions, or blessings
To hold on to

Alone and saying "oh"
Out loud
Just for the hell of it
These accidents of birth and death
Make me question what it means

She's not in this house anymore
But in my mind
She lingers on
In heavy thoughts
And fucked up jokes
In distant tenderness
She still belongs

Imagine if we'd never
Gone beyond a kiss
Holding on
As a possibility
Though we'd never
Meet again
Those kinds of things
We keep for ourselves

Alone and saying "oh"
Out loud
Just for the hell of it
These accidents of birth and death
Make me question what it means
Have I learned anything?
