Adam and Eve
When no plants of the field were yet in the land
And no rain had formed because of God's hand
There was no one around, no man to work the ground
And a mist came from the bottom and watered all around
Then the Lord formed a man - Adam was his name
Made him from dust and breathed into him so he could breathe the same
The Lord planted Eden, a garden in the East
Put the man in it - made him in charge of plants and beasts
The Lord told Adam you can eat from any tree
Except good and evil - otherwise you're free
Lord said it's not good for man to be by himself
He planned for later on to make a woman for some help
The Lord had Adam fall into a deep nap
From his ribs made woman, who later fell in a trap
Now the snake was more tricky than any of the wild
He liked to get people in trouble - that was just his style
The first people, Adam and Eve
Mother and Father of you and me
But they got in trouble from the wrong tree
Oh no! Disobeyed God - He set them free
The serpent said to the woman did God really say you must not eat from any tree?
What's the problem anyway?
She said back we can eat from any tree except the one in the middle
We can't touch it - we're not free
Oh you will not die, the serpent told her back
God doesn't want you to be smart - trying to throw you both off track
Then she saw the fruit - it was good to her eyes
So she ate, gave some to Adam and they were surprised
They tried to cover themselves - sewed together fig leaves
Then they hid, but the Lord called to Adam and Eve
He said where are you Adam said we were scared
We heard you in the garden and we didn't feel prepared
The Lord asked him, if he ate from the tree
He said it's cause of my wife - the one you gave me
Then the Lord asked the woman why she disobeyed
But she blamed it on the snake, said he tricked her so she ate
The first people, Adam and Eve
Mother and Father of you and me
But they got in trouble from the wrong tree
Oh no! Disobeyed God - He set them free
So God told the snake because in you I couldn't trust
You'll be a cursed animal, crawl on your belly and eat dust
He said you'll have problems 'tween each other and your youth
He will crush your head, and you will strike His heel - that's the truth
He said to Adam's wife when you have kids, there'll be pain
You'll want to rule over Adam, but he'll be head all the same
God told Adam I told you not to eat from that tree
But you listened to your wife instead of listening to me
So, I will curse the ground make it hard to work around
You'll have to eat the wild plants - work till sweat comes dripping down
When you die, you'll be dust, like how you were formed
Adam named his wife Eve - mother of all who would be born
Lord gave them clothes and said man is now like one of us
Ate from the tree of good and evil, and now I cannot trust
That he should stay in the garden, he can't eat from tree of life
So God drove them out to live the rest of their lives.
The first people, Adam and Eve
Mother and Father of you and me
But they got in trouble from the wrong tree
Oh no! Disobeyed God - He set them free
The first people, Adam and Eve
