Abel and Cain
We takin it way back to Abel and Cain
This is a brother situation that I need to explain
Cain was the oldest brother; and the Hebrew meaning of his name
Is to get or in other words, it means to attain
Abel was a shepherd; he watched over the sheep
Cain was a farmer; yeah he worked the ground - what he sowed he reaped
God told them both to give an offering of worship and praise
One followed just as He said, the other did things his way
Cain brought to God an offering; fruit of the ground
He wasn't serious - nope, he was messing around
Abel brought his firstborn lamb of the flock and it's fat
He gave God all his best, oh yeah he didn't hold back
The Lord respected Abel's heart and what he supplied
But not Cain, so Cain walked around with hurt in his eyes and his pride
Cain was angry, so this wouldn't end well
Because deep in his heart is where sin and anger dwelled
Don't let your heart grow cold and hate on your brother
Be acting like Cain and upsetting your mother
You will soon be judged on how you treat each other
So stay out your feelings and peace you'll discover
So the Lord questioned Cain, asked him why was he sad
Why was he walking round angry, why was he walkin' round mad
God said, I will still accept you if you do well
Bring me the right sacrifice and follow all my details
He told Cain if he didn't, sin was right at his door
The darkness wanted to take over Cain's heart more and more
Sin desired Cain, but he could still rule over it
But instead Cain rose up and gave in to his fit
Cain talked with his brother, and later he killed him dead
Then God asked Cain where his brother was and here's what he said
I mean, I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?
God said, your brother's blood cries out to Me; from deeper and deeper
So since you didn't listen, now you are cursed from the ground
No matter how hard you work, things still will not turn around
You will wander to and fro; you will not have a reward
Cain said, my punishment is way greater than I can bear, Lord!
Don't let your heart grow cold and hate on your brother
Be acting like Cain and upsetting your mother
You will soon be judged on how you treat each other
So stay out your feelings and peace you'll discover
Don't let your heart grow cold and hate on your brother
Be acting like Cain and upsetting your mother
You will soon be judged on how you treat each other
So stay out your feelings and peace you'll discover
God put a mark upon Cain and said, whoever kills you will suffer
Then Cain departed from the Lord and lived a life that was rougher. Sad
