Dating in NYC
I love dating in NYC but lately it seems to me
All the conversations are on repeat, yeah
It's all the same get-to-know-you
"Where are you from, what do you do
Do you like living in the city?" And I say
"Virginia! Designer! And yes I do, but
I'm worried about the rat uprising coming soon"
Yeah they all run in the subways like there's somewhere to go
Their network is expanding and how will we know
When they surpass us in numbers or weight?
We have been mistreating them for far too long
We're sitting back and waiting while they're all getting strong
And we won't know what hit us till it's far too late, yeah
I'll bring a date back to my place but once they see my living space
That's when they look at me like I'm insane, yeah
I'm not sure if it's all the trash or the rat statue in my bath
Cause they take off before I can explain
I've gotta live like them to get inside of their mind
I've gotta show respect that's why I'm building a shrine
And I think it's just me who's trying to prepare
We're not ready for battle so they've already won
The first impression's vital and I only get one
And if I play my cards right I don't have to be scared
I'm ready to switch my ranks
Getting sick of the human race
Make me one of your own
Show me all of your rat faces
Take me back to your rat base
I'm ready to come home
I love dating in NYC
But nobody seems right for me
All the conversations are on repeat, yeah
It's all the same get-to-know-you
