Wicked Dreams

I was kissed by the Chicago skyline
But when I opened my eyes
I found I was standing alone in the city, just shy of confident
Naked and wasted in new skin of a limited body
But I soon found that even the streetlight hands were missing their fingers
So naturally I fit right in to the silent agreement
That told me that that's just how life is

And all these wicked dreams
They're close enough to think of as reality
But that's alright with me
I've never known the difference with much clarity anyway

I was scared that you'd see right through me
I swallowed a cityscape whole
Now all of the things that leave my mouth are just vulgar projections
Of the buildings that made me feel so small
And I don't want you to see that
But in my anger I wrote it on all the walls

And all these wicked dreams
They're close enough to think of as reality
But that's alright with me
I've never known the difference with much clarity anyway

'Til this pen explodes and brings me home
I'll write this burst heart out
But how will waking life compete?
I'll take the first flight out

And all these wicked dreams
They're close enough to think of as reality
But that's alright with me
I've never known the difference with much clarity anyway
