What Is Right - Track By Track
So, "What Is Right", um, obviously, Nile Rodgers, uh
Don't need to say too much about the legend that he is
Um, we're in the studio with Nile Rodgers in London
Working on a whole bunch of different ideas
And Abigail Wyles signed to our label
This amazing vocalist
Very unique voice, doesn't really sound like anyone else
And, uh, I know, she had been talking to me
About just how much a fan she was, coincidentally, of Nile Rodgers
She'd been reading his autobiography, saying what a legend he was
And there's us sitting in the room with Nile
And I thought, "You know what?
I'm just gonna call up Abby and see if she wants to come down
And write a song with him"
And an hour later, she's walking in the room
Just could not believe it
Um, and yeah, we just, we just jammed all night
And that song came out of it
And, uh, her rhyme par-, partner, Holly Simpson was over, as well
And, um, just super cool, just, you know
Getting that whole, the old school drums
The kind of beat boy who could drum
Just mixed with this can of soulful piano
Now laying down a guitar all over the place just sounds incredible
And, uh, and Abby's voice just doesn't sound like anyone else
Every, every time you play that to someone
Who'd go like, "Who is this?"
Don't need to say too much about the legend that he is
