Swayin' (Commentary)
You know, I went in to record this album
Saying that the best song wins
And I'm very proud to say I've written most of the songs
But this song is so special
And, you know, I-, it's almost
It's one of those songs that I can't believe
Being a new artist at this point in my career
I got a chance to cut it
You know the title, "Swayin'"
It's another one of those songs
You can just almost see it in your head right now
That, you know the fans out there
The guys and the girls just swaying and dancing
And that's what the song's about
It's so cool
The first verse is what caught me
It, it, um, says, "They're calling the cheap seats"
And the guys says, "Yeah right, 50 bucks a piece"
And I think that says so much, you know
Even the lawn seats at those big shows, they're, they're 50 bucks
And people pay their hard earned money
And, especially you take a date, you know
That's a lot, a lot of money to a, to a country boy sometimes
And, uh, it's just one of those songs
About the girl not caring that they're way out there by the beer stand
And they're, and the fact that they're dancing
And lost, you know, lost in the band playing
And just hoping that the night never ends
I think that's the, Ashley Gorley, Rhett Akins and the guys that wrote this song
They nailed it lyrically
And the first time I heard it, I knew I had to have it
And I'm so glad we got to cut it
Saying that the best song wins
