October 6, 1998
The time is 7:08, getting ready for work today
Pack my work gear into my Falcon EF
Another day making bread, getting stale but I don't care
Because my wife's heavily pregnant and not to mention
She's been stressing, home from hospital just for the weekend
Been in there a few weeks with pre-eclampsia
A bit relieved to be going in only for a check up
Before I leave, kiss her and I wish her good luck
Grab the keys and then take off in the car
Peel off out the driveway and turn the radio up
It's starts to rain, restricted vision
Windscreen's fogging up, fuck
Now I'm driving steady down the highway
I'm gonna be late
This is gonna be a crazy ass day

October 6, 1998
It's 11:04 and I get an incoming call
It's the hospital telling me that my wife
Has had her check up and she's staying the night, alright
I tell the nurse that I'll be there when I'm done
Didn't sound urgent so I didn't drop and run
Finished the job, it's 2:31
Head home and grab some board games to take to help cheer her up
Grab the keys again and get ready for the drive
With no idea what I'd find when I get there this time
Get to the hospital and then I ask for my wife
The nurses all look surprised
They said "quick there's no time, she's been in labour for a while
Gotta get there now, if you want to see the birth of your child"

I start to panic because I forgot to bring the camera
Run to hospital gift store as fast as I can but
They only have a disposable one with "it's a boy"
Not sure what gender it is but I don't have a choice
I'm tryna catch my breath but I wanna see my child's more
So I build up the strength even though both my legs are sore
Time is ticking, I'm sprinting past all of the wards
Finally get there, take a breath, then I walk through the door
The epidural that she had's kinda freaking her out
They say if she doesn't calm down they'll have to knock her out
I hold her hand and tell her "honey, I have no doubt that you can do this
You're so strong and I'm so proud"
And just like that she calmed down, started feeling alright
Emotions getting to us and we both started to cry
Followed by the most precious sound I've heard in my life
