One Word Answer
I didn't think that it would be all that much of a crime
But I've been wrong before
And I can see how I'd be wrong this time
You open your mouth and spit something out
All I can think to do is sigh
I give you a one word answer
Expecting an essay in reply
Don't take it out on me
It's not cool to be passive-aggressive
And at some point it just becomes mean
Why can't you just say what you mean?
Stop being so obstinate and give me an answer
Give me an answer, give me an answer
Stop being so obdurate and give me an answer
Give me an answer, more than just one word
Maybe you should look at this book
It's called a dictionary—there are many words in there
Maybe you could try some of those
Get back to me, we'll see how it goes
Give me more than a one word answer
Is it an impediment of speech?
No, I don't think so, no, I don't think so
Just what are you trying to preach?
One word doesn't make up a speech
You talk me into a corner
You know I don't mean to be shy
You tell me my mind's not an open book
Well, I don't think it's hard to see why
Oh, I could give you a manifesto
I could give you The Art of War
And you're frustrated when I hand you a leaflet
And you think it's Nineteen Eighty-Four
What are we to do with you?
We have no other way to communicate with you
Guess there's nothing else left to do
We can give you one word answers, too
But I've been wrong before
And I can see how I'd be wrong this time
You open your mouth and spit something out
All I can think to do is sigh
I give you a one word answer
Expecting an essay in reply
