Experience - Demo Version

We stay the night and take off in the morning
before anybody can come and ask any more things
I notice everyone is peppy in their steps
I'm just glad they ain't mad and don't respect me any less
Thay's keeping next to the procession
I'm playing a little walking theme and she's definitely flexing
Every couple steps, it's kick-turn-kick
Everybody's digging it, it's casually impressive
But as the lane turns into the main road,
standing in the center of it in a grey cloak
is a tall man, sword drawn, about to face foes
in front of an on-fire overturned stagecoach
He's in bad shape, though
And we're too far away to intervene before they slay him on the scene
I tell Artie to take a shot or three
He says it's hella far, but he's taking inspiration off of me

And as he lines the bow up and fires it
Venti's muttering a spell, Thay's in an entire sprint
Thordrum grabs his hammer by the grip, rears back, and
throws it so hard, I pity the guy it hits
All at once, we make our presence a known factor
Dropping the thunder onto these foe actors
Bringing them woe faster than they can collect
the collateral left inside of the coach fractures
The first shot off of Artie's old longbow
hits one of the thieves, but does him no harm, though
Thay reaches one who was looking the other way and in a
flurry lands a whole multiple blow combo
Thordrum's hammer lands on the pavement
after hitting a man whose hands didn't save him
Damn, that's a shame, ick - wait a minute, Jayyra is
sneaking up behind another one of them to take him out

I ain't even know she left, she's a pro!
Dude's about to kick it and he doesn't even know
Jayyra pulls a dagger out from her coat, crouches and
totally fumbles it, oh my god... (Wait)
Her eyes go wide and we shift to slow-mo
The foe's gonna see her so she twists and goes low
Her hand snatches the knife before it hits the ground
and she jumps up, and puts it through the bad guy's whole throat!
Yuck, that was pretty dark
But he's out the fight and there's another matter to resolve
There's one more combatant in the brawl -
Actually, pause that, Venti's tossed some Magic Missiles on him
[WHACK - WHACK - WHACK], All three hit
Man's looking awfully sick
I use a paltry trick, Minor Illusion, to yell like
"Y'ALL BETTER ALL, FLEE, QUICK!"

The two left at least partially alive
turn and haul ass quicker than a cart could even drive
while the cloaked man falls to one knee, all the sudden he's
coughing, struggling to even talk and he could die
Arty sees him, he treats him with a Cure Wounds rapidly
The spell manages to surge through him,
patching these cuts up, he's lookin better in record time
And he offers to pay us to help search through the tragedy
It's pretty obvious that nobody made it
We break it to him gentle but he needs a moment to take it in
He says that the uptick in roguery's made all the
nobles afraid to remain within their local estates, and
he was escorting these people out the danger zone
They didn't believe him about the thieves around the main road
He figured a sneaky route could've been a safe approach,
in a plain coach, but they freaked about the 'shame', so...

He laments how the king's been reacting
to the dragon threatening to attack him
People getting dragged into military action has
got people acting without any compassion
I look around at the group and that's when
Thor says "As it happens, we were passing
through on our way to locate the cave where the
drak's been holed up - and dispatch him."
The man scoffs 'til he sees that we're serious
then he stands and says "You'll need some experience
currently you're dreaming delirious if you think you're
taking on the Wyrm without me - period
My name is Ogavar, it's pretty clear to me that
our meeting was no accident, nor a conspiracy
Helm brought you here to me, I must be meant to
assist you in your journey to put an end to this tyranny."

He seems pretty committed to this thought
But I say "In my opinion the decision is not just mine to make -
If the crew decides it's wise, we'll take you."
He's visibly distraught
but I look around and ask the crew for their thoughts
Artie says "We should take anybody that cares a lot."
Venti says "If he's a Cleric then he's a very hot commodity
A fighter with the addition of prayer slots."
Mera just shrugs at me, then points at the other three
Thay seems puzzled we're asking her but she does agree
Jayyra's like "It sounds like fun to me!" and Thor says
"I can share the glory with one more..." grumpily
I turn back and extend a hand, I'm like
"Welcome to the mission to defend the land
We've got a tough battle to fight, it's a matter of life and death
But somebody's gotta apprehend the plan!"

I tell him the same as we did the rest
about being Soulbound to attempt the quest
I leave out how we ain't really adventurous
and don't mention the prank or parental stress
By the time I finish, Ogavar is beaming
with his shield, and his sword, and his armor gleaming
He swears to defeat this dark fiend
and now that he's on board, we've got the team, and

I feel a warmth wash over me totally,
enveloping me and engrossing me hopelessly
My eyes sharpen and my spine tingles
I feel aware of my environment like it's sending my mind signals
Suddenly a couple songs make sense more
I could play it sunny all day, then storm
I could rock up in a bandit camp while they're on break
and I'll make them all take ten more
Yeah, Dizzy done grown to the next level
Now my voice got its own FX pedal
Hexed, Devil got me by the neck, but my set rebel
Better than the rest, Rex on my chest medal
Somebody better warn that dragon
My crew killers coming for him, not haggling
Taking no names, we're ignoring that tactic
We're the powder keg and the match lit, fact is

Ain't nobody in the Seven Greats,
from the base of Mt. Thuum to the Heaven Gate,
better suited to the duty that we delegate
Relegate them hella base-level while we elevate
L-M-A-O at the very thought that we're in a hairy spot
Like as if we couldn't carry such a scary plot
Crew greener than a peridot
Still hotter than cherry hot metal and we're paragons, fair or not
All the sudden it's within reach, now we know:
Dragon ain't invincible, he's simply powerful
If we cower low, six feet down we go,
or we could straighten up and hit him with the counter blow
Our vocabulary just expanded
We amped it, from a "can't" into a "cantrip"
Hands grip harder on the handles and they can't slip
Plan's getting less of a damper, it's a damn hit

And it... kinda smells like a storm
As we ready up and we head out,
we know we're going into hell, like, for sure...
But this isn't what it felt like before
And even when the rain starts up,
not one word of grief from the group
All smiles...
You know what? I believe we can do it.
