The Wizard

I once met a wizard of birds and stones
The love of his life was the land
And he'd wait by the window for rain to fall
And grow the seeds from his hands

And the wizard would sing
And the wizard would call
The clouds would dance
Where his voice would fall

The strings 'neath his fingers
Would turn air to sound
Most magical tunes you would hear
They would fleet swiftly by
To the ones they were meant for
Never to breach their stone ears

And the wizard would sing
And the wizard would cry
So sad for the years
That passed him by
And the wizard would sing
And the wizard would cry
So sad for the years and rivers of tears
Spilled from his eyes

I did try to catch one, stuck in my hair
My fingers started to bleed
For the wizard's blue eyes
Pierced through my heart
And tied them back down to his feet

And the wizard would dance
And the wizard would sing
He spoke to the moon
For the peace it would bring

And the Wizard would dance
And the wizard would sing
He spoke to the moon and said wait 'till June
With the peace you will bring

I remember the Wizard
His heart in a cage
And I wish he would lower the bars
For to look in his eyes and see yourself there
Frees your heart to play in the stars

And the wizard would sing
And the wizard would call
The clouds would dance in an earthly romance
Where his voice would fall

And the wizard would sing
And the wizard would cry
So sad for the years
That passed him by

And the wizard would sing
And the wizard would cry
So sad for the years and rivers of tears
Spilled from his eyes

And the wizard would dance
And the wizard would sing
He spoke to the moon
For the peace it would bring

And the wizard would dance
And the wizard would sing
He spoke to the moon and said wait 'till June
With the peace you will bring
