Tardigrades
Tardigrades are thought to be almost indestructible
They can withstand pressure six times greater than the deepest ocean in the world
They can live anywhere and even withstand the vacuum in space
Though they prefer wet environments such as sediment at bottom of lakes
Tardigrades are also often known as water bears
Sometimes they are even called moss piglets
Because of their appearance
They have long plump bodies but with eight legs and hands with claws
Tardigrades in their lifeless ton form can survive for decades
Through cryptobiosis they go in to a dehydrated state
Reducing their metabolism, they protect their organs
With a sugary gel called trehalas, they produce a lot of antioxidants
Tardigrades are the smallest animal in the world
And they can be as small as point naught five
Millimeters in length they
Are hardly visible plus their thin skin is translucent
Tardigrades will suck fluids from algae, lichen and
Moss for food though some can be cannibals
Their telescopic mouths have
Sharp teeth used to grab food and pierce cell walls for nutrients
They can withstand pressure six times greater than the deepest ocean in the world
They can live anywhere and even withstand the vacuum in space
Though they prefer wet environments such as sediment at bottom of lakes
Tardigrades are also often known as water bears
